|
|
Khao Yai was established in 1962 as the first national park of Thailand. Today, Khao Yai is surrounded by approx. 2,168 square kilometers with the area in four provinces: Nakhon Rachasima, Saraburi, Nakhon Nayok and Prachin Buri. The park consisting of evergreen forests is the natural border between the central plains of Thailand and the high plateau of Isan. As the origin of rice cultivation, important rivers of the central of Thailand as well as the reserve and sanctuary for rare plants and animals, Khao Yai has long provided special attraction and impressive experience for Thai and international tourists. The National Park was recently officially by UNESCO as the "World Heritage Site."
